Can I just say how disappointed I am in Herbal Essence shampoo? I remember the HE of the 1970’s. It was a beautiful dark green color in this cool, arch-shaped bottle with a lady with dark flowing hair on the label – I think she was supposed to be Eve. Anyway, the shampoo smelled wonderful; my mom used it. I used it, too, even though it would burn my eyes to next Sunday if any got into them! I would forgo the Johnson’s Baby Shampoo (yes, used it until I was 11 and discovered Flex!) for the wonderful, rich green shampoo with a scent that was clean and so grown up. Then, the re-emergence in the 1990’s; the tacky commercials, the multitude of fruity scents……..the original scent is gone. I am not sure who in their marketing group decided they needed to change anything other than updating the label, but I am so disappointed. My kid uses their mousse. It stinks to high heaven! What is up with all of these hair products smelling like juicy fruit gum or Zebra stripes gum?? Only a few of my styling products smell non-fruity. And some I really love the way they work, but the scent…….eek!!
I miss real soap scents: Irish Spring, Ivory, Caress, Dial (okay, that’s a lie). I guarantee you that anyone born before 1985 can immediately conjure up those scents from memory. Life Bouy! Remember Lava Soap? That stuff was as rough as the day is long, but it would clean any type of grime off of your hands. HANDS……no other body parts, trust me. Soaps just don’t smell the same. It is very hard to find anything in the Caress regime that smells like the original. Johnson’s baby lotion barely smells like it did. Was there some type of scent or chemical that they had to remove in order for us to survive or something? Or, maybe that is part of the problem and why diseases are up and obesity is up, etc ………basic changes in our soaps!
I do like shower gels, especially those by Philosophy (again, I forego the fruity and food scented ones). Remember when liquid soap and shower gels came about? I remember when Crabtree and Evelyn were the only store in the mall with these unique products and I sure couldn’t afford to shop there. That was before Bath & Body Works opened up in my area. But even the liquid soaps don’t smell like the old-fashioned bars. Remember the scary story of “it floats, it floats…….it’s Ivory soap!”? Ah, the good ol’ days, when a soap could be the star of a campfire ghost story.

Another Weather Comment
And, in times like these, when we are all stuck together for days on end......you don't mind if the teen sleeps in! :`)
Stay warm!
Stay warm!
Dr Pepper Emergency

Yes, this is a Dr. Pepper emergency. NEVER in our neck of the Metroplex has school been closed for four days straight. ICE and now snow. Oh, it's pretty, alright. But deadly. Eight or nine degrees at night; maybe 22 for the daytime high. The only good thing about snow on day four is that means it is actually WARMING UP. Insane. Ice and snow cripple DFW on a good day. And let's not mention that our billion dollar stadium is hosting the Super Bowl that the COWBOYS are not in.....and the week has been a total crap-fest for the fans who paid tons to be here. NFL experience? Obviously the experience is from the 1960's in Wisconsin or Minnesota!!
Not only is it most-difficult to drive, supplies are getting low. Rolling blackouts of electricity and heat; grocery store shelves stripped bare (can anyone envision three bottles of Dr. Pepper left on a store shelf?); windchill factors below zero. This is not the norm for North Central Texas. I am so glad that I shopped on Sunday, not knowing what was coming, but just doing a normal grocery run. I was smart enough to fill up the car on Monday, too, prior to this ice disaster. I am not usually that lucky! This is when you are thankful for cable/satellite TV. High Def is keeping us sane. AND, the next blessing: VPN connections in order to keep working. Yep, none of this is costing me a bit of work downtime. The biggest cost will be the gas bill in March. I would give just about anything to see 105* on the temp gauge!
Finally, I have to give credit to where credit is due. Thank goodness my husband is a Yankee!! He can drive in this stuff like nobody's business. When we need something, we can count on him.
